Cera and Yi Call it Quits
It is being reported that actor Michael Cera has broken up with his longtime girlfriend, Charlyne Yi. Cera is the 22 year-old actor best known for his roles in movies like “Juno” and “Superbad”. Yi is a 24 year-old actress, writer, and artist who has had roles in the movies “Knocked Up” and Cloverfield.
Cera and Yi recently wrote and filmed “Paper Heart” together. “Paper Heart” is a mocumentary that chronicled the couple’s relationship. They are currently in the middle of promoting the film.
Although a reason for the break-up has not been confirmed, rumors are flying that Cera ended his relationship with Yi because his star is rising in Hollywood and he wanted to have fun dating other women. Sources close to Yi report that the actress is devastated by the split and is sad to have to continue to be around Cera while the pair continues their movie promotion tour.
The rumors surrounding the split have enraged bloggers, who have taken to the internet to blast Cera’s decision to break up with Yi over superficial reasons. While Yi might not be considered a traditional beauty, she has won fans over with her talents and has received a lot of sympathy from internet bloggers.

There are actually people out there who think that a 22-year old has to settle down into a permanent relationship? At least Michael has the good sense to break up with his girlfriend before playing the dating scene again. It sounds to me that he is more mature and caring than many people a decade or more older than him. Yi might hurt now, but she is young and she will move on to someone new. She is not the first person to go through a break up and she will realize that it’s much better to let Michael go if he’s not entirely happy in their relationship, no matter what his reasons.
And what is that part about “while Yi might not be considered a traditional beauty” as a suggested reason for why Michael broke up with her. You just finished saying that she was his “longtime girlfriend”. I highly doubt that her lack of “traditional beauty” was the reason he broke up with her since they were together for a long time.
