Okay Arrested Development fans, you can finally all breathe a big sigh of relief!
According to E! News, your movie is on and its darling Michael Cera has FINALLY decided to join the rest of the cast. With Fox Searchlight backing the project, Mitchell Hurwitz is working on a script while Ron Howard has been slated to direct.
Rumor has it that production may begin as early as the end of this year.
Just a quick reminder that the film, Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist is released on dvd and Blu-Ray disc tomorrow (Feb. 3, 2009) so make sure you pick yourself up a copy. I’ll try to get the movie screen captures added either during the week or on the weekend.
The official teaser trailer/tv spot for Michael’s upcoming movie, The Year One was released. The movie stars Jack Black, Michael Cera, Paul Rudd and Olivia Wilde. It opens June 19, 2009 – it seems like it’ll be hilarious!
More details surrounding the Arrested Development movie and Michael’s opinions regarding the project.
Back in November, Fox Searchlight signed a deal to make cult TV show Arrested Development into a big screen movie. But, in a recent interview, Michael “George Michael Bluth” Cera insisted that the project is still in a very early stage.
Cera described the Arrested movie as “more hypothetical than people think”.
“There’s no script or anything, so the movie, I think, is more hypothetical than people think,” said the rising film star to MTV.
And when asked if he was “holding out” on committing to reprise his TV role for the movie, he responded, “I’d possibly play, I’d possibly put the script in my shredder. I may buy a shredder. People have asked me about it more than I’ve heard about it [in an official capacity] but I’d be very interested to see what the story is with it.
On a personal level, I truly hope Michael decides to commit to the movie. I absolutely LOVED (and very much still do) the show and would love to see a feature film adaptation hit the big screen featuring the entire cast.
EW has the first look at Michael Cera and Jack Black in the Harold Ramis-directed, Judd Apatow-produced biblical comedy “Year One.” (» Image in Gallery)
Paul Rudd and David Cross play Cain and Abel which is kind of awesome, especially considering how funny their parts are in the film. Hank Azaria plays Abraham.
Ramis didn’t write the script, but the idea is one he had long, long ago. “I did an improv a long time ago with Bill Murray and John Belushi, where Bill was a Cro-Magnon man and Belushi was a Neanderthal,” Ramis told EW. ”Putting a modern sensibility in an ancient context always seemed very funny to me.”
Michael’s upcoming movie, “The Year One” has received a release date. Fans can expect the film to hit theatres on June 19, 2009. The basic premisis of the film is as follows:
When a couple of lazy hunter-gatherers (Black and Cera) are banished from their primitive village, they set off on an epic journey through the ancient world.
“The Year One” stars: Jack Black, Michael Cera and Olivia Wilde.
It seems achieving A-List status with hits like Juno and Superbad has caused Michael Cera to forget his roots. The Canadian cutie, who got his big break on the well-loved but short-lived comedy Arrested Development, is reportedly holding out on reprising his role as George Michael Bluth in a big screen version of the television show. The rest of the cast members, including Jason Bateman and producer Ron Howard, are excited about the project. While rumors were swirling that both Michael Cera and Will Arnett were holding up the project, creator Mitch Hurwitz suggests they’re still waiting on Cera. “I don’t want to talk about who is holding out right now because we might still work that out and I don’t want to pressure anyone through the press,” Hurwitz told fancast.com. “Although I will say that Will Arnett is gung-ho, so there’s a big clue!”
